Recognition of study achievements obtained abroad
If you are planning a semester abroad or you have already completed one, you can have credits earned at a foreign university recognized in the Master program. Up to 30 credit points (for internal exchange programs; depending on the cooperation agreements) can be recognized. A mandatory prerequisite for this is the submission of a corresponding request.
Requesting recognition
Before you spend your semester abroad, you should first clarify whether and to what extent the courses you intend to take can be credited in the MAIB. In principle, you are free to attend courses outside of your field of study during your time abroad - however, these courses usually can't be recognized for your Master degree. You should therefore submit a request for recognition before your semester abroad starts, and only enter the courses that you want to attend. In this way, it can be clarified in advance whether these are creditable or not. Early clarification is particularly important if you want to complete your studies in the regular study time.
Since it is not always possible for students to find out about the necessary course offerings on site before they start their semester abroad, credit can in principle also be awarded retrospectively. However, there will be a review of the extent to which the competencies learned abroad are compatible with those of the MAIB.
At the end of your semester abroad, at the latest when you have successfully completed the courses taken abroad, you will then submit another completed application for recognition of achievements. This will allow a quick and smooth transfer of your achievements into our system.

Important note
If you have already concluded a Learning Agreement within the framework of ERASMUS or another international exchange program, you do not need to submit an additional application. In this case, please simply send us the Learning Agreement directly. Please send your request via e-mail to the examination office of the MAIB
